What is a Facebook Business Manager?
A Business Manager (BM) is Facebook's tool for managing business assets - pages, ad accounts, pixels, catalogs, and team members - all in one place. It provides an organizational layer above individual ad accounts, making it essential for agencies and serious advertisers.
BM Structure & Hierarchy
Business Manager → Pages + Ad Accounts + Pixels + People
Each BM can contain:
• Up to 5 ad accounts (initially, more can be requested)
• Multiple Facebook Pages
• Multiple pixels for tracking
• Team members with different permission levels
• Product catalogs and data sources
Types of BMs Available
Fresh BM: No spending history. Lower initial limits but clean slate.
Aged BM: Older creation date with some history. Higher trust score.
Verified BM: Business verification completed. Higher ad account limits and access to more features.
Agency BM: Designed for agencies managing multiple client accounts. Highest limits.
Best Practices for BM Management
• Always verify your business as soon as possible
• Add a real business domain and verify it
• Set up 2FA on all admin accounts
• Use the BM's built-in pixel for data continuity
• Add payment methods directly to ad accounts, not the BM
• Create separate ad accounts for different campaigns or niches
• Keep admin access limited to essential team members only
Troubleshooting Common BM Issues
BM Restricted: Usually due to policy violations or suspicious activity. Request review through the Account Quality interface. Having a verified business helps with appeals.
Ad Account Disabled: Can happen independently of BM status. Create a new ad account under the same BM. If multiple ad accounts are disabled, the BM may be at risk.
Spending Limits: New BMs have lower daily limits. Build spending history gradually to increase limits.
